Unique views high above Innsbruck

Innsbruck opens up fascinating views from above. A ride with the Hungerburgbahn funicular railway to the Nordkette takes you up into high alpine terrain in no time at all. Those who do not want to go quite so high can visit the Bergisel ski-jumping stadium. The Olympic Games were staged here in 1964 and 1976 and it is still considered one of the most important sports venues for international ski jumping competitions. The ski jump was newly designed in 2001 by star architect Zaha Hadid. You can enjoy views sweeping over the city from the viewing platform and the panoramic restaurant.

KidsPark and swimming pool in Oetz

Insider tip for families: one of the largest free adventure playgrounds in Tyrol is just a 30-minute drive from Kühtai. Climbing frames, balancing beams, wobbly trails and suspension ropes put a smile on the faces of children. All play equipment is made of wood and natural materials. Meanwhile, parents can unwind in the neighbouring swimming pool café with good views of the play area. The Oetz adventure pool is right next door.

The Ötzi Village can also be found in Umhausen. It is named after the 5000-year-old mummy that was found nearby. The adventure village offers interesting insights into the life, housing and economy of the Neolithic period. A birds of prey park is situated directly beside it. Around 30 creatures from 15 different bird species such as vultures, eagles, kites, falcons and owls live here. Flight shows take place in an arena seating 300 visitors from May to October. You can hike to the largest waterfall in Tyrol, the Stuibenfall, from the birds of prey park and marvel at the thundering water masses.
